Dr. Abel Ferrés interviewed about his experience at the EndoSurg Elite Camp for endoscopic spine surgery
Dr. Abel Ferrés Pijoan, neurosurgeon on the Brain & Spine Barcelona team and at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, has been interviewed in an international series about the EndoSurg Elite Camp, a training programme in endoscopic spine surgery.
The organisers of the EndoSurg Elite Camp have interviewed more than a dozen specialists who have taken part in the programme. One of them is Dr. Abel Ferrés Pijoan of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, who explains what the workshop contributes to a spine surgeon's training.
Hands-on training in endoscopic spine surgery
Endoscopic spine surgery is a form of minimally invasive surgery. It allows disc herniations, stenosis and other conditions to be treated through millimetre-sized incisions, with less tissue damage, less post-operative pain and a faster recovery. Learning the technique takes time and requires very specific hands-on training.
In programmes such as the EndoSurg Elite Camp, surgeons from different countries practise the endoscopic approach in a controlled environment and share experience. The organisers put three questions to those who have taken part:
