Career

Dr. Antonio Doncel-Moriano Cubero is a neurologist in the Neurology Department of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, where he completed his MIR specialist training (2018-2022) and currently works as a Consultant. He has been a Clinical Lecturer on the Medical Degree programme at the Universitat de Barcelona since the 2019-2020 academic year.

Clinical activity

He devotes most of his clinical activity to acute ischaemic stroke, reperfusion therapies (intravenous thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy), neurosonology and the management of complex neurovascular patients. He collaborates with the BRAIN & SPINE Barcelona team in general neurological assessment, with particular interest in headache (migraine, cluster headache) and cerebrovascular pathology.

Research

He participates as a researcher in competitive projects funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III: complement inhibition to optimise functional recovery in ischaemic stroke and determinants of tissue fate and functional recovery in malignant cerebral infarction. His research lines include clinical, radiological and serum biomarkers of malignant cerebral infarction, arterial wall injury after thrombectomy and prediction of haemorrhagic transformation.

Publications

More than 25 scientific articles in international journals including Neurology, Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, American Journal of Neuroradiology, European Stroke Journal and Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology.
